Description
I need to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. THIS IS MY LAST ONE! I picked up a few of these little gems on clearance, so now I can let one or two go (presumably to good homes). Dragon Models has a specialty subsidiary (Cyber Hobby) that usually does more obscure subjects or limited release products. This one is part of their Golden Wings Series and is an F.20 Sea Vampire carrier-based jet for the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm right after WWII. These were mainly used to train pilots on carrier operations and fewer than 20 of these saw service, with a relatively short career of about 10 years. There are under a dozen listings for this kit on eBay (many from overseas), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this to you very quickly. Here is some of the information that I have found online about this spectacular kit: The Dragon-Models.com site shows the dynamic box art and one of their full color posters that effectively point out the extensive features packed into this small kit. They also provide the following information about kit features and the Sea Vampire: - Newly designed authentic Sea Vampire F.20 - Newly produced realistic landing hook - Well-defined and well detailed jet exhausts - Intricate fuselage for Sea Vampire F.20 - Fuselage possesses metal-skinned appearance - Intricate landing gears bays included - Newly designed wing flaps can be assembled at different angles for landing /takeoff - Air intakes accurately represented - Detailed cockpit interior includes control panel and pilot's seat - Twin-boom tail made by slide-mold technology - Cockpit interior details including control panel and a single seat - Landing gear can be assembled in either flying or taxing positions - 500Lb bombs fitted beneath fuselage Cyber-Hobby impresses yet again with its latest 1/72 scale release – a de Havilland Sea Vampire F.20. This type was based on the Vampire FB.5 flown by the RAF. This 1/72 scale kit is based on Cyber-Hobby’s recent Vampire FB.5 that has proved so popular and which employed brand new toolings. Of course, this Sea Vampire has received redesigned components such as a new tail, lower fuselage, redesigned flaps and the arrester hook required to stop the plane when making deck landings on aircraft carriers. The kit’s extremely well engineered and numerous parts are produced with the aid of slide molds, while CAD design was utilized from start to finish. Panel lines are sharply and accurately delineated using laser crafting, while the streamlined fuselage and twin-boom tail are realistically recreated. Modelers can now add a new Vampire to their families! Scalemates.com has a listing showing that this is a 2013 release based on a new tooling from the same year, so it is quite up-to-date. There is a link to a download the complete 6-page set of instructions for the parent kit (CHC #5085) and links to tons of aftermarket parts and references for your build. Scott Van Aken did a concise Preview on the modelingmadness.com site that starts with a development history of the Sea Vampire. He shows the sprue layout and the Cartograf decals and points out his favorite features: one-piece tail booms, nice intake sections and the ability to model the plane in flight. In summary, he says: “ A nice model that will not take up much shelf space. It will also be a required addition to any 1/72 FAA collection. ” Walt Fink did an inciteful Build Review on the web.ipmsusa3.org site that also included a set of aftermarket landing gear. He lets us know how the build went and where things got tricky. His little gem came out very nicely and he said: “ this is one fine kit! The fit was almost perfect and other than the miniscule size of the model and some of its parts, it was a pleasure to build. ” André Cardoso published a short In-Box Review on the Portuguese-language aprj.com.br site that has a brief history of the De Havilland Vampire aircraft family. We also get ten photos of the sprues, instructions and the amazing Cartograf decals. He liked what he saw in the box and his only warning was around the care needed to align the tail pieces. His summary translated as: “ Although well done is a simple kit and easy assembly, being recommended for any category of modelist. ” There is an unnarrated 14-minute Unboxing Video on YouTube by struggle daddy that pulls out the parts and zeroes in on many interesting parts. The production is top-notch and looks very professional. This kit is in a nicely decorated 13” x 7.5” x 2” box. As you can see from the pictures, the box is still in the original shrink wrap, so it is factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains an injection molded plastic model kit with grey and clear plastic parts and excellent Cartograf decals to build this carrier-based variant of the de Havilland Vampire jet aircraft. It requires paint and cement to complete as shown. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays the winning bid and for a limited time, I am offering this kit with $5 Flat Rate Shipping in the US! No reserve and a low starting bid. Check out my other great auctions for combined shipping. Good luck! Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
