ARTHUR SUKER (1857-1902) : Listed, signed 19C watercolor "Cornish Cliffs” Mounts Bay 1891: 22 ½” x 15 ¼” Arthur Suker was a 19 th Century watercolor master. His paintings are superbly rendered and are of a quality rarely produced today. His watercolors represent one of the best values on the art market today with paintings going for a small fraction of comparable quality paintings. This watercolor measures 22 ½” x 15 ¼” inches (visible) and 29” x 21½” inches including its frame. It is clearly signed on the lower left monogram AS : (Arthur Suker). The painting is in very good condition. The frame is new with archival backing and mounting. It is mounted behind protective glazing, with brass plack. I am confident you will conclude this is a remarkable painting. Its authenticity is guaranteed. Arthur Suker (1857-1902) was a very well respected nineteenth Century British landscape and coastal painter. He lived in Chester, Liverpool, Surrey, Cornwall and Devon. He studied at the Birkenhead School of Art. He was the brother of artist Frederick Clive Newcombe . He painted mainly in Wales, the Lake District, the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man. His paintings were exhibited at Birmingham, Dudley, Liverpool, Manchester, the Royal Academy and Royal Institute, and the Sydney Art Gallery.
