Description
Designed by Bjorn Wiinblad for Rosenthal studio-line of Germany in 1961, this Mid Century Modern design is still contemporary despite being over 50 years old (was bought in the mid-1970's). All of the pieces are in excellent, as-new condition. Each piece in the tea set is embossed with a geometric pattern of ovals, lines, and dots creating a white-on-white texture, with gold accents. Typical of fine china of this calibre, the porcelain is translucent and delicate-looking, yet durable. The domed lids on the tea pot and on the sugar bowl each have a gold knob on top. The large Tea Pot measures 20 cm. (7-7/8 in.) high to top of the lid’s gold knob, is 22.5 cm. (8-7/8in.) wide from spout to end of handle, and holds over 1.9 litres (8 cups); the Sugar Bowl measures 9.9 cm. (3-7/8 in.) to top of lid’s gold knob, is 9.9 cm. (3-7/8 in.) wide, and it holds over 227 ml. (1cup); the Creamer measures 8.9 cm. (3 ½ in.) to top of the spout/handle, is 9.9 cm. (3-7/8in.) wide including the handle, and holds just under 236 ml. (8 fluid oz.). There are no chips, cracks, scratches, stains, shelf-wear, or gold loss. The set comes from a smoke-free, pet-free home and will be shipped fully insured.
